Greenacres StudGreenacres Stud is based on the northern edge of Amberley township, just a half hour north of Christchurch Airport. We have 300 acres on which we run predominantly horses, following up with cattle and sheep.

The farm compromises a combination of silt loam and peat type soils giving a good balance of drier and wetter country to suits the seasons.  We harvest our own grain, balage and hay which keeps our costs down to pass on to clients.

All foaling paddocks are floodlit, along with the main yard, holding yards, round yards and stallion serving area. This has been invaluable for delivery of horses and foaling.

Greenacres Stud Mares due to foal are on monitors and we provide a 24-hour service, and are fortunate that we have vets within a two-minute drive of the property in case of emergency, and a qualified vet's assistant is present at all foalings.

All our mares at Greenacres are rugged during the winter months, which clients provide or we can provide at extra cost. In addition we have been fortunate to procure the services of Bruce Smith, who is available to break in, pre train, handle youngsters and reschool young horses with behavioural issues.  Bruce is also present in the serving barn to help where needed.

The majority of our fencing is no.8 wire with hot wire outriggers, although foaling paddocks are post and rail.

At Greenacres Stud we are lucky to have a small but very dedicated team of staff who always welcome visitors to the stud, and we value their commitment.
