While Aussie sprinter Starspangledbanner came up short in his first European assignment last night, there was some joy for one Australian owner in the UK this week with progressive filly Kingston Acacia making it back to back wins for Richard Hains.

Kingston Acacia was the subject of a Breednet story when she broke her maiden winning at Lingfield last month and was back in the winning groove again scoring at Warwick on Tuesday over seven furlongs by two and a half lengths.

Richard Hains is a member of the well known Hains family of Kingston Town fame, his sister Cathy creating an enviable bloodstock portfolio in Australia under her Burnewang North banner with the advice of bloodstock agent Steve Brem.

Bred to Northern Hemisphere time and foaled in the UK, Kingston Acacia is by the Fairy King (USA) horse King of Roses from the Australian bred Last Tycoon (IRE) mare Derartu, who was exported to the Northern Hemisphere in July 2006.

Trained by Andrew Balding, Kingston Acacia has now won two of six starts and is unbeaten this year.

Derartu is from the Sir Tristram (IRE) mare Magnetic Belle, a half-sister to dual Group One winner Wonder Dancer from the famed New Zealand family of Star Belle.

King of Roses was also in the news this week as he is moving to New Zealand from Victoria and will stand at Greenacres Stud at a fee of $3300.
